Andrew Karolyi<\/a>, faculty director of the Emerging Markets Institute<\/a> at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and Alumni Professor of Asset Management, has been appointed executive editor of the Review of Financial Studies<\/a><\/em>, a premiere academic journal of financial economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am honored and excited to be asked to serve in this capacity,” Karolyi said.  “My new role carries a significant responsibility towards furthering knowledge in my field, and I look forward to getting started.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karolyi’s appointment marks the second time that a member of Johnson’s finance faculty has earned this prestigious appointment. Maureen O’Hara, the Robert W. Purcell Professor of Finance and professor of economics, served as executive editor of the journal from 1999 to 2005. Johnson is the only school whose faculty members have twice captured the honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Karolyi is an internationally-recognized scholar in the area of investment management, with a specialization in the study of international financial markets. He has published extensively in journals in finance and economics, including the Journal of Finance<\/em>, Journal of Financial Economics <\/em>and Review of Financial Studies<\/em>, and has published several books and monographs. His research has been covered extensively in print and electronic media, including The Wall Street Journal<\/em>, Financial Times<\/em>, The Economist<\/em>, Time<\/em>, New York Times<\/em>, Washington Post<\/em>, Forbes<\/em>, BusinessWeek<\/em>, and CNBC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Review of Financial Studies is a major forum for the promotion and wide dissemination of significant new research in financial economics. The journal’s primary criteria for publishing a paper are its quality and importance to the field of finance, without undue regard to its technical difficulty. Finance is interpreted broadly to include the interface between finance and economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
