Advising for B.S. in AEM students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Academic advising at the Dyson School is an intentional, developmental process. Advisors work with students to support academic success, course planning, degree progress, faculty connections, and access to campus resources. Students are ultimately responsible for their academic decisions and how those decisions shape their Cornell experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academic advisors can help with short- and long-term course planning, degree requirements, academic difficulty, and connections to faculty. They can also help students locate academic, health, and wellness support services across campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is my academic advisor?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Dyson Office of Student Services and Advising has dedicated professional academic advisors who meet with and support Dyson students. Students are encouraged to build relationships with advisors and develop a broader network of people and resources across campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will I have a faculty advisor?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dyson does not assign faculty advisors. Students are strongly encouraged to connect with faculty through office hours, research, and teaching assistantships. Faculty can be helpful resources for connecting academic and career interests, exploring graduate school, and requesting letters of recommendation. <\/p>\n\n\n

For quick questions, a drop-in visit with the Dyson Office of Student Services and Advising may be the best option. Drop-in visits typically last five to 10 minutes. Current drop-in hours, including virtual availability, are available through Dyson Launchpad under “connect with an academic advisor.”<\/p>\n

Can I graduate early?<\/strong>
First-year students may be able to graduate in fewer than eight semesters. Students interested in this path should plan early, consider taking a minimum of 15 credits per semester, and meet with an academic advisor to discuss options. Transfer students should meet with an academic advisor to review their individual situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I graduate late?<\/strong>
Delayed graduation is typically approved only when extenuating circumstances prevent a student from completing degree requirements on time. Students are not permitted to extend graduation to pursue optional programming such as double majors, minors, or study abroad. <\/p>\n\n\n
