Cornell Hospitality Research Summit
Scheduled for October 12 through 14, the Cornell Hospitality Research Summit 2014 focuses specifically on creating new knowledge on the spot. Held at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, the CHRS theme of scientific service innovation drives the session tracks, which focus on people, organizations, data, and technology. CHRS co-chairs Cathy Enz and Rohit Verma have taken the critical step of structuring the sessions for discussion, cross-commentary, and activities, with the idea of generating a specific focus on creating knowledge in new and different ways. One other unusual facet of the CHRS is that participation is balanced between industry practitioners and academic researchers to encourage direct, research-based dialogue between industry and academe, along with rapid cross-pollination of ideas—both for further study and for implementation.
