CAYUGA CRUNCH AT NYC FOOD CONFERENCE
In March, the Cayuga Crunch team was invited to attend the Mixing Bowl NYC food conference. Team members Alex Strauch SHA ’18 and Javier Perez AEM ’18, brought hundreds of bags of their handcrafted granola snack for conference participants to sample. Their granola helped start many great conversations with food and ag industry leaders, including Ralph Jerome (head of innovation at Mars Inc) and Tom Tomich (director of UC Davis Sustainable Ag Institute). At the event, Alex and Javi heard from six panels of speakers who discussed innovations in aquaculture, food waste, food media, ag tech, and nutrition. During lunch, Alex and Javi, walked down the street to Toby’s Coffee and pitched Cayuga Crunch to the manager. We shall see whether a retail partnership comes out of the meeting! Cayuga Crunch’s travel expenses were generously paid for by a donation through the Pillsbury Institute and the Juan Andres Ramirez ’14 Family Travel fund. The team can’t wait to return to the event next year!
