THE COLEMAN FOUNDATION FACULTY ENTREPRENEURSHIP FELLOWS PROGRAM AT CORNELL

By Kelly McDarby, Coleman Faculty Entrepreneurship Fellows at Cornell Program Coordinator

The Coleman Foundation Faculty Entrepreneurship Fellows Program at Cornell is helping expand entrepreneurship education at Cornell, and The Pillsbury Institute is leading the way. Mona Anita Olsen, Ph.D., Assistant Academic Director of The Pillsbury Institute and Visiting Assistant Professor, Management & Organizational Behavior says, “Collaborating with The Coleman Fellows at Cornell has been an opportunity for us to increase engagement from students across disciplines in our entrepreneurship programming initiatives at The Pillsbury Institute.” Olsen brought the program to Cornell for the first time this year with the help of Howard Chong, Assistant Professor- Services Marketing, Ben Lawrence, Assistant Professor-Food and Beverage Management, and Cheryl Stanley, Lecturer- Food & Beverage Management. Each Coleman Fellow at Cornell has adjusted the curriculum in their courses to be more entrepreneurial. As fellows, Chong, Lawrence, and Stanley engage in monthly Coleman conference calls with all fellows across the nation. Cornell’s Coleman team also attended a two-day Fellows Summit this summer in Lisle, Illinois, presented inaugural year program updates to the Coleman Fellows via webcast, and hosted a November event on campus with Dr. Delia E. Racines, Visiting Research Scholar at The Pillsbury Institute, who facilitated a discussion on entrepreneurship education with the international student population at Cornell. The Coleman Program at Cornell is looking forward to continuing to expand its reach on campus and into the community and has played a pivotal role in planning the two entrepreneurship roundtables at SHA for Spring 2015.
