ENTREPRENEURSHIP BOOTCAMP SUPPORTS VETERANS WITH DISABILITIES
The third annual Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) brought 25 post 9/11 veterans to campus for an intensive week of classes and exercises focusing on food and beverage concepts. Provided at no cost to the veteran, EBV-Cornell is designed to help our veterans with service-related disabilities to open or strengthen their business concepts in the food and beverage industry. Among the sessions were workshops with several entrepreneurs who provided their personal and professional advice on how to develop and execute a business plan. Nearly two dozen faculty members from the School of Hotel Administration, the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and the Culinary Institute of America also worked with the participants. By the time they arrived at Cornell, the veterans had already worked on-line for phase 1 of the program. Concepts included food trucks, gastropubs, and catering businesses, among others. Several graduates already have their businesses up and running. The 2015 EBV-Cornell program will take place September 26 – October 4, 2015.
