Biography

Mark A. Apker has worked on in-house real estate development for municipalities and corporations including the City of Portland, OR, Nike, and Adobe. Over the past 15 years, Apker has worked on projects spanning five continents and worth billions of dollars. He has hired and directed the work of architectural firms such as Gensler, Perkins + Will, HOK, and others. Apker has also had the opportunity to untangle sticky regulatory problems with municipalities around the world, including Portland, OR; San Jose, CA; Lehi, UT; New York, NY; London, England; Dublin, Ireland; Bucharest, Romania; Yerevan, Armenia; and others.

In addition to his development work, Apker has been active in environmental sustainability. He is a founding member of the Utah Sustainable Business Coalition (the sustainability wing of Utah's Silicon Slopes organization) and served on its board for three years. In his capacity as a thought leader, he has contributed to the Utah Roadmap, furthered sustainability legislation on the state level, and spoken to business and government leaders on sustainability topics. He's served as an advisor to transit authorities and sat on multidisciplinary commissions to develop and expand mass transit in western cities in the U.S.
