Johnson’s Dean to Unveil Report on Global Networked Readiness on CornellCast

Soumitra Dutta, the Anne and Elmer Lindseth Dean and professor of Management at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, will unveil the 2014 edition of a critical report on nations’ networked readiness on April 23, 2014. The press conference from the World Economic Forum in New York City will be broadcast live on CornellCast, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., EDT.

Dutta is co-editor of the report, which analyzes the main drivers and impacts of a hyperconnected world. Since it was first published in 2002, it has become one of the most respected studies of its kind. The report is extensively used by policymakers and others as a tool to identify strengths on which to build and weaknesses that need to be addressed in national strategies for enhanced network readiness.

The report is the result of a partnership between the World Economic Forum, INSEAD, and Johnson at Cornell University. One of its most useful features is the Networked Readiness Index (NRI), which measures the capacity of 144 economies to leverage information and communication technologies for growth and well-being.

The NRI uses a combination of data from publicly available sources and the results of the Executive Opinion Survey, a comprehensive annual survey conducted by the World Economic Forum, in collaboration with Partner institutes, a network of 167 leading research institutes and business organizations. This survey of more than 15,000 executives provides insight into areas critical for networked readiness.

To learn the results of this year’s study, watch the press conference live on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at 10 a.m. More on the report and last year’s results are available on the World Economic Forum website.
