Biography
Sydney Lanning is a first-year Ph.D. student in Marketing (Consumer Behavior track) at the SC Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. Her research interests include consumer and salesperson judgement and decision making.
Lanning’s research has appeared in portal: Libraries and the Academy (forthcoming, January 2027). She has presented her work at the AMA Summer Academic Conference and the Utah Conference on Undergraduate Research.
Before beginning her Ph.D. at Cornell, Lanning earned a B.S. in Marketing with a Global Business Certificate from the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University in 2026. During her undergraduate, she worked as a research assistant in marketing strategy, judgement and decision-making, and economics and finance data areas. These roles included opportunities in co-authoring academic papers, designing and running experiments in behavioral labs, and developing and teaching data literacy curriculum.
Lanning’s industry experience includes Marketing Strategy Consulting in designing primary research to develop executive-facing materials to guide brand strategy and employee time allocation decisions.
