Leveraging artificial intelligence
AI is more than a tool. It’s a market analyst. A logistics coordinator. A decision maker. It’s the basis of a product not yet developed. A solution for tomorrow’s greatest challenges. But only when business leaders draw on sound judgment to develop and implement the technology thoughtfully. Our faculty, students and alumni are working to understand the business and economic implications of AI, guard against pitfalls and leverage it for good.

Working papers
The SC Johnson College Research Paper Series, curated by professor Jura Liaukonyte and hosted by SSRN, includes works-in-progress on LLM chatbots in customer service, privacy-preserving data-driven inventory management, behavioral biases of AI in financial decisions and more.
Scholarly dialogues
At lively lunchtime talks hosted by Dean Vishal Gaur, faculty discuss how to develop AI agents, design model governance, optimize human–AI interaction and more to investigate how LLMs can support insight generation, reasoning, persuasion and decision-making across organizational and social contexts.
Data science to improve humanitarian response
At a recent Cornell Thought Summit, academic and industry researchers and humanitarian leaders explored how artificial intelligence can help predict, prevent and accelerate recovery from crises in the world’s most vulnerable regions. Hosted by Cornell’s Collaboration for International Development Economics Research (CIDER) in partnership with Cornell’s Center for Data Science for Enterprise and Society, the summit focused on innovative uses of satellite imagery, weather forecasts, censuses, surveys, community-generated data and machine learning to improve early warning systems, target humanitarian assistance, and design more impactful economic aid policies.
