Industry connections

Every great business decision starts with informed leadership. That’s why our outstanding faculty and students engage with industry partners to create the knowledge that fuels their business — receiving financial and human resources in return.

Advancing business together

Everyone benefits from collaboration across industry and academia: Our partner organizations gain improved understandings, faculty inquiry is expanded and the student experience is enhanced.

Collaborative research

Our industry partners regularly sponsor faculty research projects, receiving specialized products and reports.

Experiential learning

Partner organizations propose projects to our smart, savvy students — like specialized consulting or community-engaged applied research — gaining faculty-mentored solutions to real business problems while students gain valuable experience and connections.

Fostering talent

By recruiting through the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, employers gain access to the brightest young professionals emerging into the job market. We also offer professional and executive-level education for experienced businesspeople who want to sharpen their skills.

Collective contribution

Our partners’ gifts, grants and data sharing benefits our Centers & Institutes, student-faculty research projects, service-based work through Student Multidisciplinary Applied Research Teams (SMART) and much more, helping us to change industry and society, one project at a time.

Bridging industry and academia

Firm-sponsored challenges

Students go head-to-head in industry-specific challenges, designing solutions across tech, healthcare, hospitality and more. Examples include the Pepper Challenge, where SoftBank challenged students to come up with a hospitality use for a humanoid robot named Pepper, and the Boeing Innovation Challenge, where student teams participated in a hackathon centered on disruptive mobility, passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
