Biography

Jessica V. Tracey is an assistant teaching professor in the services management area at the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration, part of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. She teaches courses in accounting and hotel development and management, drawing on extensive industry experience that informs her applied, analytical approach to hospitality education.

Before joining the Nolan School, Tracey was a visiting lecturer in the Sloan Program in Health Administration at the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy, where she taught graduate level courses in accounting and finance. From 2008 to 2024, she also served as an instructor for eCornell, specializing in hospitality, real estate and financial management.

Outside Cornell, Tracey is the founder and principal of JVT Hospitality, a firm providing financial, strategic and operational advisory services to hotel operators, developers and investors. Her expertise spans the full lifecycle of hotel development, combining deep industry knowledge with sophisticated analytic capabilities to support strategic and operational decision making. She is known for anticipating market trends and delivering value adding insights in project feasibility, due diligence and valuation.

She has completed projects for developers, hotel companies and investment firms including Turnberry Associates, Brookfield Properties, Ian Schrager Company and Windsor Capital Group, with experience in markets such as New York, Miami and Nashville. She also has significant advisory experience in Mexico and the Caribbean. Earlier in her career, she held roles at Jones Lang LaSalle, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Lehman Brothers.

Tracey earned her B.S. with distinction from the Nolan School and her MBA with distinction from Cornell’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. She also holds a graduate minor in real estate.
