Biography

Ojiri Enahoro Innocent is a PhD candidate at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, specializing in agricultural economics. His research sits at the intersection of Digital Financial Services (DFS), household welfare, and food security, with a strong focus on causal impact evaluation using randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental methods.
He has worked as a research analyst on multiple large-scale field experiments in Nigeria, including a USAID-funded project examining the impact of rural digital literacy on output markets and demand for rural e-commerce. He also contributed to a collaborative RCT with AfricaRice, Northwestern University, and Penn State University that evaluated the effectiveness of bundling women’s empowerment training, digital extension services, and in-person extension on the adoption of best management practices among rice farmers.

His current research centers on a randomized controlled trial in rural Northwestern Nigeria, where he serves as the principal investigator. The project examines the impact of digital financial services on savings behavior and broader household welfare outcomes. More broadly, his work aims to understand how financial inclusion interventions can improve resilience, consumption smoothing, and long-term economic well-being among underserved populations.
