Biography
Reem Nabil Hashad holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Her Ph.D. dissertation was on “The Role of Public Policy in Nutrition, Childhood Stunting, and Corruption”. She has also earned a Master’s degree in Economics from UIC, and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the American University in Cairo (AUC). Passionate about development economics, agricultural economics, and social assistance, Reem worked as a Research Agricultural Economist at the Food Economics Division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and as a collaborator with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). She contributed to policy reports on international food security, inflation and diets, and published in leading journals on global food value chains and obesity, stunting and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Research Topic: The impact of food inflation on Egypt’s double burden of malnutrition.
