Biography
Daniel Cane is a technology entrepreneur and executive with three decades of experience founding and scaling companies at the intersection of software, education, and healthcare. He co-founded Blackboard Inc., the learning management platform that originated at Cornell and became a defining technology in higher education worldwide. He is also the co-founder and co-CEO of ModMed (Modernizing Medicine), a healthcare IT company trusted by more than 45,000 providers and known for its specialty-specific, AI-powered clinical platforms. Cane serves as a visiting professor of practice at Cornell’s SC Johnson College of Business and Dyson School (2026-27) and was named the 2026 Cornell Entrepreneur of the Year. He is deeply committed to entrepreneurship education, applied AI, and mentoring student founders through the Cane Entrepreneurship Scholars program at the Dyson School and The Cane Institute for Advanced Technologies at Florida Atlantic University.
