Biography
Josh Weissenstein is the co-founder and managing partner of Team Outsider, an owner and operator of outdoor hospitality properties throughout the United States. Since founding the company with Cody Sauer (also a Hotelie) in 2017, Josh has helped lead 18 acquisitions, including the 16 properties and approximately 4,000 campsites Team Outsider currently owns and operates. It’s more than 350 team members, spread across 10 states, and welcomes over 100,000 guests annually.
Team Outsider has grown through the acquisition of established, family-owned campgrounds, often providing a thoughtful succession path for owners who have spent decades building and operating their businesses. Following each acquisition, the company seeks to carry the campground’s legacy forward by preserving the qualities that have made it a welcoming, affordable place for families to spend meaningful time together outside, while reinvesting in the property and professionalizing its operations.
Prior to founding Team Outsider, Josh worked in real estate private equity, focusing on hospitality investments at Tishman and later at a privately owned real estate sponsor based in New York City. He is a graduate of Cornell University’s Nolan School of Hotel Administration.
Josh lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Sara, and their son, Laith.
