Biography

Fridah Mubichi-Kut is a professor of practice in applied economics and management and the executive director of the Student Multidisciplinary Applied Research Teams (SMART) Program at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business.

Perplexed by the paradox of the hungry farmer, her work and research are focused on understanding the role development policies and social networks play in promoting and adopting new agricultural innovations, economic development, and gender equity within emerging markets.

Trained first as an international business administrator and later as a social scientist, Mubichi-Kut has worked with and supported various organizations and projects internationally. Before joining Cornell, she was director of monitoring and evaluation at the United Soybean Board (a USDA agricultural commodity research program), overseeing the development of the organization’s first measurement evaluation and learning system and supporting the development of its five-year strategic plan (2022-2027). Before that, she served as an evaluation and research specialist for the Area Resources for Community & Human Services and as a research assistant in USAID-FtF Soybean Innovation Labs and Climate Resilient Beans.
