Biography

Roger G. Hill II is chairman and CEO of The Gettys Group, a hospitality design, development, branding and procurement firm he co-founded in 1988. A proponent of the philosophy “beautiful design is good business,” he has led the company through more than three decades of growth, guiding strategy and development efforts, including the acquisition and repositioning of assets across the United States. Hill is widely recognized as a leader in hospitality design.

As an industry speaker, he frequently shares insights on the development, renovation and repositioning of hospitality real estate and contributes to media outlets such as Bloomberg TV, Crain’s Chicago, Hospitality Design, Boutique Design, Hotel Business and The Wall Street Journal. His achievements have earned him honors including the Platinum Circle Award from Hospitality Design magazine and the School of Hotel Administration (now the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration) at Cornell University Innovator of the Year Award. In 2020, Hill led the relaunch of the global think tank Hotel of Tomorrow.

A graduate of the Nolan School, he is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the International Society of Hospitality Consultants and the Young Presidents Organization. He also serves on the board of the Lincoln Park Zoo and is a past president and trustee of the Auxiliary Board of the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition, Hill has served as an appointed delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business.
