Biography

Sawsan Abdul-Jalil is a PhD researcher in the Agricultural Development and Trade Group at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a lecturer in economics at the University of Khartoum. Her research examines the economy-wide and distributional impacts of natural-resource management and policy, with an emphasis on rangeland restoration, extensive livestock production systems, market and non-market ecosystem services, and household welfare in dryland economies. She works primarily with computable general equilibrium modelling and the development of social accounting matrices. Sawsan earned an MA in International and Development Economics from HTW Berlin. She worked previously as a consultant for the World Bank in Khartoum and the Overseas Development Institute, and as a research associate to the Minister of Finance in Sudan. She is also the founder of the Sudanese Women Economists Association.
