Biography
Tianshu Lyu is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. His research lies at the intersection of behavioral finance, corporate finance, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Much of his work studies how investors and managers form beliefs and process information, and how behavioral biases and incentives shape firm innovation and investment. A second strand examines private capital markets and their effects on the real economy, spanning impact investing, venture debt, and private equity’s interactions with government. His research also contributes to the methodology of financial event studies. Lyu’s research has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics.
Lyu received his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the Yale School of Management. He holds a Master of Finance from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a B.S. in Computer Science and Business & Finance from New York University Shanghai. Prior to his Ph.D. studies, he worked as a Research Professional at the Fama-Miller Center at Chicago Booth.
