Climate Week NYC 2026: Mobilizing for the environment

“It’s always fantastic to be here in New York during climate week and to be able to bring a diversity of people to the table with different perspectives in the same space,” said O’Shannon Burns, senior fellow, Sustainable Global Enterprise, who led a roundtable discussion on sustainable tourism at Climate Week NYC 2026.

The college brought business leaders, researchers and sustainability experts together to discuss how industries can respond to climate challenges. Sustainable finance, travel, tourism and hospitality were the focus of college faculty at Climate Week NYC 2026 as they explored how businesses can make decisions supporting economic goals and a more sustainable future.

Andrew Karolyi, Charles Field Knight Dean of the college, co-hosted an event where he led a panel aimed at systems change featuring leaders working to bring sustainability into financial decision-making. Across the week’s events, Cornell faculty shared research, exchanged ideas with industry leaders, spoke at a UN event and explored practical ways to advance sustainability in business.
