The Graduate School supports a majority of its students with competitive funding packages to ensure financial barriers do not limit academic success. Approximately 97% of on-campus students in research Ph.D. programs receive stipends to cover living expenses in exchange for research and teaching support.

Tuition assistance: A fully funded Ph.D. program
At Cornell, about 99% of Ph.D. students are fully funded to pursue their degrees. At the Nolan School, doctoral students may be eligible for teaching or research assistantships which cover:
- Tuition and fees
- Health insurance
- Stipend or allowance for living expenses

Financial aid eligibility
Ph.D. students may be eligible for assistantships that include tuition coverage, enrollment in Cornell’s student health plan and a stipend. These awards are determined on a case-by-case basis. Ph.D. students are expected to work approximately 12 hours per week conducting research or assisting with courses.
