Dear Cornellians,

Wherever I travel in the world, whenever I check into a hotel, there comes a moment when the person at the check-in desk sees that I’m employed by Cornell. Almost invariably, the next moment brings an introduction to at least one Hotelie—who is frequently the manager of the hotel.

Established 100 years ago, the world’s first degree-granting program in hotel management—now the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration—has never had any equal. What began as a program focused on hotel and food service operations management has expanded into a premier school offering world-class education in areas including commercial real estate, data analytics, design, digital marketing, entrepreneurship, fintech, sustainability, strategy, and yes, hotel and food service operations management. For nearly a century, its graduates have gone on to distinguish themselves as leaders and innovators across and beyond the hospitality industry. Globally, they have made the Cornell name synonymous with excellence in hospitality business education—and made traveling Cornellians feel at home wherever they go.

Congratulations to all of you on the Cornell Nolan School’s 100th anniversary. I thank you for your role in bringing us to this milestone and wish you all the best on the road ahead.

Sincerely,
Martha E. Pollack
President
