Student assistants to the dean

Sam Kimball ’27 and Sophia Marangoudakis ’27 have been selected to serve as dean’s assistants for the 2026–27 academic year. Kimball and Marangoudakis bring strong qualifications to the role and will represent the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration well in this important student leadership position.

Sam Kimball ’27

Sam Kimball ’27 is a senior in the Cornell Nolan School with a minor in real estate. He serves on the Dean’s Student Advisory Board, is a member of the Cornell Real Estate Club and works as an operational analyst supervisor at The Statler Hotel. Kimball also served as president of the Cornell chapter of the American Hotel and Lodging Association and contributed to Hotel Ezra Cornell, while working as a Nolan ambassador and course assistant.

Beyond campus, Kimball interned at Marriott International headquarters in global operations and with Trinity Investments on the hotel acquisitions and asset management teams. This summer, he will join Starwood Capital Group as a hotel asset management summer analyst, continuing his focus on hospitality real estate.

In his free time, Kimball enjoys playing sports, cooking, baking and photography. As a dean’s assistant, he is eager to bring energy and enthusiasm to the role while strengthening the Nolan community and supporting the next generation of hospitality leaders.

Sophia Marangoudakis ’27

Sophia Marangoudakis ’27 is a senior in the Cornell Nolan School with a minor in real estate. She is actively involved in the Dean’s Student Advisory Board and the Cornell chapter of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. Through the Hotel Leadership Development Program at The Statler Hotel, Marangoudakis advanced from student housekeeping attendant to manager. She was also involved with the Cornell Real Estate Club and the 100th anniversary of Hotel Ezra Cornell, serving as an assistant director of donor relations.

Over the past two summers, Marangoudakis gained experience through internships at the Marriott Hotel in Yerevan, Armenia, and RevPAR Media, a hospitality marketing company. This summer, she will work in hotel development at Marriott International headquarters. She aspires to develop and own a line of boutique hotels.

In her free time, Marangoudakis enjoys traveling, creative arts and volunteering as a member of Lions Clubs International. She looks forward to mentoring new students, connecting with the broader student body and embodying how the “Life is Service” ethos benefits all areas of life.
