EMBA NYC format & schedule

The Executive MBA Metro NY program combines two delivery methods that emphasize collaboration and executive leadership. Every other weekend, you’ll join classmates for in-person classes in New York City. This convenient weekend format offers opportunities for extensive networking and engagement with peers. At the beginning of each term, residential sessions unite the cohort as you prepare for your next set of courses together.

Weekend class schedule

Alternating weekend classes seamlessly integrate into your busy lifestyle. Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays every other week at the Tata Innovation Center on the Cornell Tech campus in New York City giving Executive MBA Metro NY students the added advantage of applying what they learn on class weekends immediately to their professional environments on Monday – making real-time impact.

Class weekends on the Cornell Tech campus in New York City allow for extended networking time with classmates and faculty. Thought leadership events, institute programming, and clubs are a few of the ways students engage with the broader Cornell community on class weekends.

Class instruction

Class weekends begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday mornings and break for lunch from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The academic day concludes at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, instruction begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 12:45 p.m., giving you the afternoon to regroup with family and friends before returning to work on Monday.

Networking opportunities

When you aren’t in class, you’ll participate in additional programming to grow your professional networks. For example, we’ve hosted lunch talks with the Executive MBA Career Development team on topics such as executive compensation; fireside chats with industry leaders; receptions with other Johnson programs in NYC; and special events like C-Suite Spotlights and EMBA Club guest speakers.

Residential sessions

The Executive MBA Metro NY program includes four residential sessions, also referred to as “residence weeks.” These sessions are held at the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, New York, with accommodations provided at the on-campus Statler Hotel.

Each of the program’s four academic terms begins with a week in residence, setting the tone for collaboration and academic excellence. During each residential session, you’ll take courses and participate in programs as you build your networks and engage in rich discussion.

Focus on your career

Although career and executive coaching is an integral part of the entire EMBA Metro NY program experience, you’ll take part in focused career development activities and one-on-one discussions with staff from the EMBA Career Development Office during a portion of some of your residential sessions.

Get to know faculty and classmates

While in Ithaca, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to engage with faculty and classmates outside of the classroom. Activities include team-building with Cornell Outdoor Education, attending hockey or basketball games, touring the Cornell campus, visiting local Finger Lakes wineries, and hiking in nearby parks.

Weeks in residence requirements

Students in the Executive MBA Metro NY program must attend all four residential sessions in Ithaca. These week-long sessions are held at the start of each academic term. Meals and accommodations at The Statler Hotel are included in your program tuition.
