B.S. in Hotel Administration students

Your time in the B.S. in Hotel Administration program is an opportunity to build business knowledge, explore the hospitality industry, and shape a Cornell experience that supports your goals. Use this page to find program-specific resources for academic planning, advising, degree progress, enrollment, forms, study abroad, orientation, and student organizations.

Plan your degree

B.S. in Hotel Administration students complete a broad business and hospitality curriculum designed to prepare them for leadership in the global hospitality industry. Degree requirements include Hotel Administration core courses, Hotel Administration electives, a First-Year Writing Seminar, distribution requirements, free electives, physical education, and Practice Credit.

To graduate, students must meet all program and university requirements, including the required terms in residence, a minimum of 120 credits excluding physical education credits, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, and completion of any course with an incomplete grade. Students must also meet final-semester requirements.

Students should review their degree progress regularly and plan ahead with academic advising, especially when considering study abroad, transfer credit, petitions, specializations, minors, or early graduation.

Prepare for enrollment

Students should review enrollment resources before each enrollment period and check their degree audit regularly. Common enrollment topics include pre-enrolled core courses, self-enroll core courses, core section swaps, enrollment error messages, credit limit increases, grade options, account holds, academic accommodations, specializations, forbidden overlaps, and drop-in advising.

Download your student handbook

Use the handbook that corresponds to your entry year to find information related to degree progress, grade computation, required courses, dean’s list criteria, academic integrity, and more.

Track your progress with the Online Degree Audit

Current, registered Nolan School students can use the Online Degree Audit to track progress toward B.S. in Hotel Administration requirements. The audit shows completed course requirements, required courses still needed, completed electives, declared concentrations, and documented Practice Credit hours.

The Online Degree Audit is a restricted resource. Students must log in with their Cornell NetID and password.

For quick academic progress questions, start by reviewing available resources, then use drop-in advising or email academic advising. Schedule a 30-minute advising appointment for longer-term planning or complex questions.

Consider study abroad

B.S. in Hotel Administration students are encouraged to consider study abroad as part of their undergraduate experience. Students may study in regions including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Oceania while earning academic credit toward their degree.

Study abroad can help students build cultural understanding, broaden international perspectives, and explore global career interests. Nolan School students should review study abroad policies and procedures, explore eligible programs through the Office of Global Learning, and meet with academic advising to understand how study abroad fits into their degree plan.

Get academic advising and career support

Advising is an important part of the B.S. in Hotel Administration experience. Students are encouraged to use advising proactively, prepare questions in advance, and take responsibility for their academic progress and career development.

Academic advising

Academic advisors in the Nolan School help undergraduate students understand the curriculum, degree requirements, course planning, policies, petitions, transfer credit, Practice Credit, study abroad, academic support, and progress toward graduation. Contact them when you need help planning your degree, interpreting your degree audit, navigating academic policies, or identifying campus support resources.

Faculty advising

Faculty advisors help students connect academic interests with course selection, research, co-curricular opportunities, industry interests, and professional development. Faculty advisors can also help students build relationships that may support networking, internships, graduate school applications, references, and letters of recommendation.

Career coaching

Career coaches help Nolan School students define career goals and prepare to pursue them. Students can meet with career coaches to refine interests, connect curriculum to career paths, strengthen resumes and cover letters, prepare for interviews, develop networking skills, and learn how to connect with alumni and industry mentors.

Nolan School Registrar’s office

The Nolan School registrar’s office supports class enrollment, grades, academic records, degree audits, transfer credit documentation, special verification letters, and petitions. Students may also need to contact the Office of the University Registrar for official transcripts, standard enrollment certifications, or replacement student ID cards.

Academic forms and petitions

B.S. in Hotel Administration students may need forms for graduation, research enrollment, faculty advisor changes, FERPA release, petitions, Practice Credit, time conflicts, special studies projects, transfer credit, leave of absence, or university withdrawal.

Before submitting a form or petition, review the instructions carefully and contact academic advising or the Nolan School Registrar’s Office with questions.
