Master international business with the CEMS MIM

An international lens for your Master’s Degree

One-of-a-kind program. Two graduate credentials.
Deepening your knowledge of international business is a smart career move, whether you want to work for (or lead) a multinational organization, serve with (or start) a nongovernmental organization, or boost your cultural competency.

If you’ve been searching for an MBA in international business or a similar globally-focused graduate business degree, this immersive opportunity from the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management might be right for you. In partnership with CEMS, a global alliance of top business schools, multinational corporations, and nongovernmental organizations, you can earn a Master of Professional Studies in Applied Economics and Management (MPS) and a CEMS Master of International Management (MIM) credential.

Cornell University is the only institution in the United States to offer this prestigious international program, which offers an enriching curriculum, real-world learning experiences, and a semester abroad at another top-ranked international business school.

MIM vs. MBA programs

With so many degree options available today, how do you determine which international business master’s degree program is right for you? The MPS/MIM degree combination includes characteristics you’d find in a Master of International Business (MIB) and international MBA programs, but it offers opportunities found only at a few schools around the world.

MIM – Master in International Management

At Cornell, you’ll earn the CEMS MIM in tandem with an MPS in Applied Economics and Management.  Designed for pre-professionals,  the degree provides a range of coursework and experiential learning. With the completion of an immersive semester abroad, you learn the foundations of international business and global networking.

In the job market, the MIM is beginning to show unique value, just like the MBA. Employers and HR departments recognize the impact employees with MIM degrees can make, especially through prestigious global organizations like CEMS.

MBA – Master of Business Administration

MBA programs typically require prior professional business experience in the workforce.

With a broad curriculum, an MBA encompasses nearly every area of business and prepares students after graduation to move up within their existing companies or explore pivoting into new areas/industries of their pre-existing careers.

MIM vs. MSc: International business options explained

How does the MIM compare to another rapidly growing graduate degree option—the Master of Science (MSc)? The MSc is a specialized, often tech-focused graduate degree offered in engineering, information technology, and computer science. You can also earn an MSc in international management or finance.

A STEM-focused graduate business degree spans topics such as analytics, business intelligence, database programming, and software tools. With its forward-thinking, globe-spanning curriculum, the CEMS MIM program offers these same characteristics.

“I wanted to apply to the program mainly because of its international character. The best business schools come together and offer this program for students who are interested in international management.”
