Applied Economics and Policy

The applied economics and policy (AEP) area brings together over 40 Cornell SC Johnson College of Business faculty with expertise in applying rigorous economic theory and analytical methods to emerging local, national, and global public-policy and private-enterprise issues. Building on a century of commitment to impactful research and engagement at the nexus of management, policy, and economics, AEP faculty are internationally renowned in food and agricultural economics; environmental, energy, and resource economics; international and development economics; and real estate finance, and their scholarship, teaching, outreach, and service activities are critical to Cornell University’s land-grant mission and history of public engagement.

Participating area faculty from the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration and the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management provide leadership in undergraduate major and minor programs in applied economics and management (with concentrations in applied economics, agribusiness management, and environmental, energy, and resource economics) and real estate. Professional degree programs include the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) programs in real estate and in agricultural and life sciences. Graduate research degrees (MS and PhD) are offered through the graduate field of applied economics and management. The Cornell Baker Program in Real Estate offers a graduate minor in real estate.
