Johnson’s residential MBA programs are well underway! One-Year accelerated and Johnson Cornell Tech MBA students have completed their summer core in Ithaca and are beginning fall classes, and our Two-Year MBAs have hit the ground running with their core teams. Johnson Cornell Tech MBAs are now starting coursework on Roosevelt Island in New York City—but we’ve only said “see you later” since many of Johnson’s Ithaca-based MBAs will be taking advantage of NYC curriculum offerings at the Cornell Tech campus throughout the year.

Our classes of 2020 and 2021 enjoyed a whirlwind summer and pre-term activities, including case competitions, Johnson Outdoor Education (JOE), team building events, welcome receptions, events hosted by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year), discussions with Dean Mark Nelson and faculty, and career prep activities and exercises.

Take a look at the highlights below, and learn more about our newest residential MBA students.

@cornellmba: You bet MBAs want to take home 1st place when the grand prize is dinner with Dean Nelson and his wife, Cathy!

Congratulations to one-year MBAs Alan Abraham, Derek Kellman, Cassie Dai, Murphy Lu, and Chad Kurylo, on winning the Leading Teams Case Competition. The Leading Teams Case Competition is MBAs first case competition. It puts teams to the test in a time-pressured setting and serves as the capstone for the Leading Teams core curriculum course during pre-term.

The competition and class are designed to provide students with training and experience in leading and contributing to high-performing teams, something that employers routinely cite as one of the most sought-after skills in MBA hires.#Cornell  #CornellSummer #CornellMBA #MBA  #Leadership #Ithaca  #BusinessSchool  #CaseCompetition

@cornellmba on Instagram: After tackling the Leading Teams Case Competition, core teams can handle anything that is thrown their way this semester 👊

Congratulations to our top three teams for all their hard work on the first case competition of their business school experience!

@cornellmba on Instagram: Working together to create a more inclusive business world 👊 At the Women’s and Men’s Welcome Retreat, Professor Duguid spoke with our newest MBAs about the roles they play in creating an inclusive culture.

The interactive Women’s Retreat equipped participants with strategies for not only surviving, but excelling in their MBA journey. They identified some of the challenges that face women from elite business schools and discussed strategies for overcoming these challenges.

In trying to promote inclusive environments, organizations often focus solely on women and leave out the necessary role that men play in inclusive cultures. The Men’s Welcome Retreat, led by Professor Duguid and Professor Brown, was designed to address some of the issues and concerns that may serve as barrier for men who want be inclusive leaders.
